The North End Farmers Market is a lively event that happens every Wednesday from June to October. There are musicians, vendors from the Greater Hartford area, and community organizations, all working to make Hartford a healthier and more vibrant place. Here are some highlights:
- Mayor Pedro Segarra and Vice President of Wholesome Wave, Gus Schumacher, visited the Market on opening day.
- Six performances by local musicians span the season (click here to see who has played). The last performance will be next week on September 19th by salsa sensation La Orquesta Espada.
- Two community gardeners from Hartford sell their produce throughout the season.
- For a second year, we are able to match every SNAP and EBT dollar, effectively doubling the purchasing power of lower-income individuals to be used towards fresh produce.
It’s no wonder why our fans voted us as Connecticut’s favorite small farmers market (and 16th best small farmers market in the country), in the America’s Favorite Farmers Market contest held by the American Farmland Trust. Considering there are 7,864 farmers markets in the country, we feel pretty proud of this designation. You can find out more about the market by following the North End Farmers Market on facebook or visiting the program page.
